Almost half of the world’s population is suffering from poverty. Due to lack of food and clean water people are suffering.

Let us Pray.

“Father God! Many people in our country are suffering from poverty. Lord, enable the Government to take appropriate actions to eradicate poverty. Lord, change the heart of people to have more compassion to help those who are suffering from poverty. Lord, encourage many to volunteer to serve those who are suffering from poverty. Lord, send your angels to meet the needs of people, and in Jesus’ name we pray Amen.”

Many people in our society are affected by sin & addiction. The addiction can be in substances, alcohol, the internet, pornography, gaming, gadgets, recreational drugs, etc. Sexual immorality is also prevalent among a few people. This addiction is affecting their career, health, family, mental health, behaviour, and image in the society they live.

In some communities, these are all accepted and considered normal. It is now getting into the culture and is considered acceptable.

The reason for the addiction can be due to multiple factors. Bringing awareness to people, regular counselling and strict Government policies and rules can some extent helps to reduce this addiction.

In the Bible it is given God is living in our bodies and so we need to keep our bodies free from sin.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.

If we sincerely believe God is living in our bodies then we may not harm our bodies by getting addicted and doing sin.

To overcome sin and addiction We may not be able to overcome with our ability but we need Jesus to help. In the below Bible verse, it is given the same.

Romans 7:15-25 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.  And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.  As it is, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?  Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Thank God we have Jesus who helps in overcoming sin.

Let us Pray.

“Lord God Almighty, you created the human being. We are weak and we are sinful by nature. You have also mentioned our body is your temple and we should not abuse it by doing sin. Though we are willing to come out of this addiction our sinful nature is not allowing and we kept sinning. Lord help us to overcome this with your help. We have to overcome sin and not be a slave to sin. With our strength, we can not overcome, however, Lord help us to overcome with your power, and in Jesus’ name we pray Amen.”
