Almost half of the world’s population is suffering from poverty. Due to a lack of food and clean water, people are enduring immense hardship.
Let us Pray:
“Father God, many people in our country are suffering from poverty. Please guide the government to take appropriate actions to eradicate poverty. Lord, transform the hearts of people to have greater compassion for those who are suffering. Encourage many to volunteer and serve those in need. Lord, send Your angels to meet the needs of the people. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”
Many people in our society are affected by sin and addiction, including substances, alcohol, the internet, pornography, gaming, gadgets, recreational drugs, and more. Sexual immorality is also prevalent among some individuals. These addictions impact their careers, health, families, mental well-being, behavior, and social image.
In some communities, such behaviors are accepted and considered normal, becoming ingrained in the culture.
Addiction can arise from various factors. Raising awareness, regular counseling, and strict government policies and regulations can help reduce addiction to some extent.
The Bible teaches that God dwells within our bodies, and therefore, we must keep our bodies free from sin.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.
If we truly believe that God resides within our bodies, we would not harm them through addiction or sinful actions.
To overcome sin and addiction, we may not succeed on our own. We need Jesus’ help. The following Bible verse reflects this sentiment.
Romans 7:15-25 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Thank God for Jesus, who helps us overcome sin.
Let us Pray:
“Lord God Almighty, You created humanity. We are weak and sinful by nature. You have told us that our bodies are Your temple, and we should not defile them with sin. Although we desire to overcome addiction, our sinful nature keeps us bound. Lord, help us break free with Your assistance. We must conquer sin and not remain its slaves. On our own, we cannot prevail, but with Your power, we can. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”
