Most of us are almost affected by one or the other disease for some period of our life. This is of major concern to almost all of us. Diseases most of the time bring pain, sorrow, fear, uncertainty, depression, loneliness, loss of confidence, and other negative feeling in us.
Some diseases are due to hereditary reasons and Aging-related. However, most of the diseases are due to an unhealthy lifestyle, irregular diet, drug/alcohol addiction, inadequate exercise, unhygienic environment, etc. Some diseases may be induced by wrong medications etc.
It is good practice to take precautionary measures from a young age to avoid getting diseases. Building a strong immune system by following a healthy lifestyle is very important. Avoid eating junk foods, excess sugar, fatty foods, excess salt, etc. Eating more vegetables, fruits, nuts, protein-rich foods, regular exercises can help to build a strong immune system to fight against diseases. Also doing regular health check-ups can help to have awareness about our health condition to take necessary precautions.
Despite following a healthy lifestyle, we may still get some diseases in some ways. We need God’s grace to overcome disease and live a healthy life.
Praying sincerely brings healing. God can also guide us to meet the right doctor or go to the right hospital or take the right medicines to overcome disease. God also gives us enough strength to go through the sickness in our life. God also sends some good-hearted humans to help and support us during this difficult period of our life.
In addition to our prayer, we can reach out to some of the praying friends who can pray for our healing.
Jesus when he was living here in the world did many miracles and healed many people from different diseases. By going through these incidents written in Bible we can gain faith and can start praying to God to heal us from the diseases which we are having currently
Mathew 4:23-25 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them. Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.
Mark 1:29-31 As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand, and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
Mark 1:40-42 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately leprosy left him and he was cured.
Mathew 8: 5-13 “When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.” Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed … Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.”
Mathew 9: 20-22 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed from that moment
Following are some references from Bible on how people prayed for their healing, after receiving healing from God how they thanked God. Also how they have shown their confidence in God about His healing power.
Psalm 6:1-8 O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am faint; O Lord, heal me, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in anguish. How long, O Lord, how long? Turn, O Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love. No one remembers you when he is dead. Who praises you from the grave? I am worn out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
Psalm 30:2-5 O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me. O Lord, you brought me up from the grave; you spared me from going down into the pit. Sing to the Lord, you saints of his; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:2-4 O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me. O Lord, you brought me up from the grave; you spared me from going down into the pit. Sing to the Lord, you saints of his; praise his holy name.
Psalm 103: 1-5 Praise the Lord , O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Let us Pray.
“Heavenly Father, you know about my disease and how desperate I wait for your healing touch. I am weak and helpless. Lord have mercy on me and forgive all my sins. Lord, give the doctor the wisdom to give me the right medicines. Lord, help me to bear the pain and help me to get good sleep. Lord, remove the fear and depression from me. Lord, please send some angels to comfort me. Heal my disease completely and strengthen me so that I can thank you and talk about your miracles to everyone. You are so compassionate and merciful God. Heal me completely and bring joy to me I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Amen.”
